PTI Has Offered A Clarification After The Hilarious Cat Filter Mistake

By Noor | 15 Jun, 2019

The cat filter really made PTI the butt of many a joke.

Recently, Shaukat Yousafzai, the KPK minister for health and information, conducted a press conference to have a detailed discussion about the decisions made by the provincial government

The minister talked about a few sensitive issues like population planning. He explained that how other countries like Bangladesh and Iran have taken the help of the Ulemas to convince people regarding population control measures. Shaukat Yousafzai also talked about how the lower age limit for marriage has been finally fixed by Pakistan. He basically summarized all the provincial decisions of the KPK province.

The minister also highlighted several mechanisms that had governed the decisions taken by the provincial government. But that’s not what we want to discuss. An interesting thing happened during this live session on Facebook.

Basically, the images that have surfaced from the press conference of the KPK minister have a Snapchat filter inserted on them

There were more alleged screenshots of the session with the filter too

People on various social media platforms asserted that the social media team of the KPK government forgot to remove the filters before going live

A LOT of people caught on

We weren’t really sure if the shared images with the filters were original and unedited thus we referred to the video of the press conference shared by the official page…

…and the new video did NOT include any filter

Trust me, I sat through the whole 20-minute live session.

Apparently, as soon as the people pointed out this filter-blunder, PTI’s social media team deleted the video and posted another one BUT the screenshots of the now-deleted went viral on social media

A few even asserted that the situation could have been funnier if the PTI social media had used gender-bending filters

People alleged that we have a cat in the cabinet

A few sarcastically pointed out that this is how we are promoting a positive image of Pakistan

The video now has been deleted and replaced by a new video but pictures are still circulating on social media. However, PTI’s official account tweeted a clarification about what actually went down.

The notice claims that PTI’s social media team, which is “deemed to be the [pioneer] of social media in Pakistan” committed a blunder, adding the cat filter to a live session. It was removed within a few minutes. The matter was looked into and it was found to be a “human error” by a “hardworking volunteer” – which, I mean, yeah – matlab kaafi obvious baat thi but khair. The statement further went on to say that “all necessary actions have been taken to avoid such [incidents] in [the] future” which makes me wonder if they fired the aforementioned hardworking volunteer?

Here’s the clarification:

You can’t make this stuff up. Besides, what’s once on the internet never truly dies. Have you seen the video shared by the official page? What do you think about the whole fiasco? Let us know everything in the comments below.
