This Horrifying Video Of Children Hanging A Doll For “Blasphemy” Is Terrifying People About Extremism In Pakistan

By Haddiqua Siddiqui | 5 Nov, 2018

In the wake of Asia Bibi’s acquittal that took place on October 31, 2018, conditions across major cities in the country started taking an ugly turn.

What were called ‘peaceful protests’ by religious fanatics from TLP ended up causing endless damage. Just when after a week of fiasco, everyone was hoping for things to get better, they only got worse.

Recently, a horrifying video has started circulating that shows how we are still dealing with an identity crisis as a nation.

The video shows three boys, who, perhaps, are unaware of what they are doing or who they are idolizing. They very happily hang a silicon doll with a string attached to TLP’s party flag while calls for Asia Bibi to be hanged can be heard.

We spoke to Jibran, who was one of the people who shared the video. Here’s what he shared:

“For the vast majority of Pakistanis, national identity is considered aligned with our Muslim identity. TLP is hijacking the definition of a true Muslim, drawing parallels with Mumtaz Qadri and normalizing vigilantism as religious duty.”

It is indeed true that, playing to the religious sentiments of citizens, Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has been planting the idea of Mumtaz Qadri as a hero. Qadri is the same man who was the late Salman Taseer’s security guard who ended up murdering him in 2011 when he expressed his opinion in favor of freeing Asia.

People, of course, are not happy with what they saw. People seem to have lost hope for humanity.

This person is plain terrified. PERIOD.

Jitters.

This one who is scared for what is yet to come for the country.

Truly, this is unnerving to the core. What is your take on the matter? Let us know in the comments.
