Farhan Saeed Just Dragged Indian Musician Salim Merchant For Allegedly Stealing His Music

By Maryam Khalid | 14 Sep, 2019

Farhan Saeed took to Twitter to accuse Salim Merchant of copying his song ‘Roiyaan’. He threw MAJOR SHADE at Salim.

Farhan Saeed has become a Pakistani heartthrob through his role in Suno Chanda as Arsal. As a singer, he has the most soothing and soulful voice. From the magical Pee Jaun all the way to his cover of Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai, Farhan has proven his musical talent again and again.

Recently, he took to Twitter to accuse Indian musician Salim Merchant of copying his song ‘Roiyaan‘.

Salim Merchant – one half of the Salim-Sulaiman duo – is a well-known Indian music composer, known for his super-famous songs like Ainvayi Ainvayi and Mar Jawan.

Anyway, Farhan Saeed just threw MAJOR SHADE at Salim by implying that not only did Salim copy his song, but also did a very poor attempt at it!

In response to Farhan Saeed’s allegations, Salim also had something to say:

While Farhan didn’t mince his words, Salim gave a dignified response, stating that while he agrees that the chorus sounds similar, it’s a mere coincidence, given how he hasn’t heard Roiyaan before.

But Farhan Saeed was not in a mood to forgive the alleged plagiarism:

So Farhan just CASUALLY highlighted the fact that both of them had the same lyricist, capping the tweet off with what can only be assumed to be a sassy, “good luck.”

However, Salim still tried to defend his position:

Salim, still poised, asked Farhan to check with the lyricist. He also asserted that if he had to copy songs, he’d have done that earlier on in his career. Moreover, he wished he’d heard the song beforehand so that he could have altered it and made it sound different. Quite a dignified response, honestly.

While Bollywood has been accused of stealing songs time and again, no one’s ever admitted it, like Salim here, who remains apologetic about it. Anyway, why don’t you guys give the songs a listen and decide for yourself?

Here’s Farhan Saeed’s Roiyaan:

And here’s Salim-Sulaiman’s Haareya:

So, are the two songs similar? Let us know in the comments!
