Fawad Chaudhry Just Shared Sympathy For Notre Dame But People Are Asking About His Silence Over The Hazara Incident

By Rameeza Ahmad | 16 Apr, 2019

People are asking Fawad Chaudhry Hazara community ke liye khamoshi kyun?

The news of the iconic Notre Dame building in Paris being on fire dominated the airwaves the world over. Tweets declaring solidarity with the people of Paris came pouring in from the world over. A lot of prominent personalities had expressed their dismay at the situation as well and talked about how sad the entire incident was.

The Information Minister for Pakistan, Fawad Chaudhry also tweeted about the incident extending solidarity on behalf of the people of Pakistan.

And while the tweet was a gesture of goodwill, it didn’t exactly sit well with a lot of people because of recent developments

The reason for that being the Minister being otherwise silent on the tragedies happening at home. The recent attack on the Hazara community has been largely ignored by the media as well as the government.

People have been very upset at the fact that the Government hasn’tt shown any concrete support or Prime Minister Imran Khan hasn’t personally visited the affected families

A lot of people have compared the incident to the Christchurch terrorist attack and how the situation was subsequently handled by New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Some have been sharing Imran Khan’s old tweets criticizing Nawaz Sharif for not expressing concerns over incidents in Balochistan but doing the same now as Prime Minister himself

And the lack of attention the attack on the Hazara community has garnered is very concerning

A lot of activists have tried to bring the issue to light on social media. But other than that, the entire issue has largely remained ignored.

Attacks on the community are very targeted and commonplace at this point, so much so that it has been labeled as genocide at this point. The response from the government has always been lackluster. According to Dawn.com, the Hazara community protested about the latest bombing on Friday which claimed 20 lives and ended their sit-in after Chief Minister Jam Kamal Alyani and State Minister for Interior Sheharyar Afridi made promises of assurance to the community.

Let’s see what becomes of these promises.
