Nawazuddin Siddiqui's ‘Manto' Trailer Came Out And Desis Everywhere Are Going Gaga

By Arslan Athar | 15 Aug, 2018

There has been a lot of hype surrounding the Nawazuddin Siddiqui version of ‘Manto’. Everyone’s been waiting to see how his performance measures up to our own Sarmad Khoosat’s performance as the famed writer.

The excitement surrounding the movie has been picking up ever since the first look of Nawazuddin as Manto came forward.

They finally released the trailer for the film at midnight on 15th August, so that it falls right in the middle of both the countries’ Independence Days.

In this post announcing the launch of the trailer, Nawazuddin said ‘Bol ke lab azaad hai! This Independence Day let’s celebrate the freedom that #Manto stood for. ‘

The movie focuses on Manto’s life pre-partition, and also depicts how the decision to move to Pakistan affected him and took a toll on him. The trailer also shows how the writer was constantly censored and sent to court for his writing.

Sarmad Khoosat’s film focused a lot on Manto’s mental worries as well as his journey after the partition period. There will be some overlap between the timelines these movies cover, however, it does feel like either production took on the story of Saadat Hasan Manto differently. Either would be a pleasure to watch.

Desis across the internet collectively lost their minds in the best possible way.

The trailer was called ‘perfect’

The praise just wouldn’t stop

There are loads of expectations that come with being ‘the best’

It would be interesting to see how this movie is in comparison to Sarmad Khoosat’s
