Pakistanis Are Standing In Solidarity With Kashmir And Here's Everything You Should Know

By Aam Nawab | 5 Aug, 2019

Pakistanis are showing solidarity with Kashmir as tension builds in the region.

Over the weekend, unpleasant developments in Kashmir took place. A lot of the speculations are yet to be confirmed but for now, it has been reported that more Indian troops were deployed to Kashmir over the weekend and visitors in the region were sent back.

According to Dawn, both foreign and local tourists looked for flights back and Indian students studying in local colleges were sent back as well. The reason for this has been cited as intelligence reports of terror threats to the region which is why the Indian government and military is clamping down.

And now it’s being reported that Article 370 of the constitution that gave special autonomy to Kashmir has been abolished by India’s parliament. The measures for the decree to abolish article 370 will be enforced immediately.

According to Al-Jazeera, critics speculate the reason for abolishing special status for Kashmir is so that more Hindus move to the region and the Muslim-majority is challenged.

Other than that, Indian forces have cut off neighborhoods and other towns from one another in Srinagar, which is in Indian-held Kashmir. Internet and mobile services are also reportedly down in the area which is one way to control the dissemination of information.

Consequently, Pakistanis are standing in solidarity with Kashmir.

Since communication in the region has been stopped, Pakistanis and people all over the world have changed their display pictures to red and have started to tweet about the situation.

All the top trends in Pakistan were for Kashmir and people had their display pictures changed to red as well.
