A Park In Spain Was Just Named After Malala But Pakistanis Ko Mirchein Lag Gayi Hain

By Alveena Jadoon | 22 Nov, 2017

Malala has become an international celebrity, and a symbol of education and empowerment all around the world. She keeps on achieving new heights and yet people of her home country are not even open to tolerating her for her achievements.

Malala has been ridiculed countless times, but she keeps a dignified stance amidst all of it

And she continues to achieve new heights

One such thing happened yesterday when a park was named after her, in Spain

According to a report by Spanish media platform BierzoTV, a park in Spain has been named after Malala Yousafzai. There is a park next to the School of Music (CRA) in the town of Cubillos del Sil, where students of the school inaugurated a park called “Malala Makai” with songs and a plaque.

The mayor of the town, Antonio Cuellas, pointed out that the initiative to name the park after Malala started two years ago on International Women’s Day. The children came across the story of Malala – how she went through a very difficult situation back in Pakistan, how she was shot by the Taliban in 2012 for her passion for equality in education, and finally she was recognized for her efforts in 2014 with a Nobel Peace Prize. They wanted to honor her story and her valor.

While most of the world was appreciative of this gesture

Pakistanis could not digest the news (once more) and this is what they had to say

We all just love to hate the poor little girl, when the world chooses to see her for her struggle and her strength.

These are little children getting inspired from her story, learning how someone can be so committed to education – something which many of us might not consider a privilege. Her story has the ability to move hearts and deserves all the recognition that it is getting.

Congratulations to Malala, though. She’s going places.
