Khadija Siddiqui's Attacker Was FINALLY Sentenced To Prison And It's A Win For All Pakistani Women

By Rameeza Ahmad | 23 Jan, 2019

Justice was only delayed and thankfully not denied.

You have probably heard of Khadija Siddiqui’s case. She was brutally stabbed in the neck 23 times with a butcher’s knife by Shah Hussain back in 2016. It was miracle Khadija survived the gruesome attack. And once she recovered, she immediately knew what she wanted; justice.

And today, justice has finally been served.

Being a student of law, Khadija was no stranger to the justice system in Pakistan and braced herself or a long case because she knew she wasn’t fighting against just anyone, but the son of a prominent lawyer who had connections in the judiciary. But she was not one to give up or fold under pressure. Despite having her character brutally assassinated in public, she pursued the case fearlessly.

A disappointing turn of events took place in summer 2018 when the Lahore High Court acquitted Shah Hussain and he was released from prison. This did not discourage Khadija or her team of zealous legal representatives. She only propelled her campaign even harder and appeared on several television shows to discuss the how unfair the verdict had been.

Her efforts were not in vain since earlier today the Supreme Court heard her appeal and overturned the verdict given by the Lahore High Court.

And she finally breathed a sigh of relief:

Here’s a look at her relentless team that made this happen:

Shah Hussain was taken into custody from the courtroom! And his prison sentence given originally will now have to be completed. A lot of people are ecstatic with the news, most notably Khadija herself who was reported to have said that ‘today is a victory for all women’ by Dawn news.

Of course, people are in strong agreement.

People are incredibly happy that justice was served.

It’s a good day for justice, people. Let’s celebrate.
