Whenever someone mentions The City School, the first image that comes to the mind is that of a student in a white uniform with splashes of maroon all over in the form of collars or sashes. The color and style was something that had been in place for decades.
However, recently, things got…spiced up, a bit. The school announced new uniforms for their A Level students on their Facebook page and asked students to come dressed in the uniform for the upcoming term.
The white shalwar kameez for girls is now replaced with a short shirt and tights. The maroon is gone and has been replaced by blue with some yellow detailing.
For boys, the overall look is somewhat the same but the blazer and cardigan are now blue instead of maroon.
Well, the picture shows how the uniforms are “decent,” as per societal standards. Nothing to majorly lose your cool over, right? I mean, just look at this. Harmless. Normal. Completely okay.
But nope. The local ghairat brigade is particularly really pissed off at the kind of dress code being introduced for girls.
People feel that the dress is not decent and graceful enough to be called a uniform
Some people felt they are encouraging vulgarity with this kind of dressing
And then there were a number of people who thought that the uniform did not conform to local values
It was considered “a step towards liberalism”
On the other hand, students are also furious that the original maroon color is long gone
It’s apparently a huge loss.
Uniform changes are never easy. What are your thoughts about their new uniform? Let us know in the comments section.
