Growing up in the ’90s was quite an experience, am I right? Cartoons were just amazing, not like the stuff kids have to watch nowadays. Chief among those unforgettable shows was ‘The Powerpuff Girls, with the three lovable crime-fighting girls and their science-freak father.

Since that glorious time has passed, we find any and every way to look back and celebrate our childhood.

One designer took that need and put it on the ramp in Los Angeles. British designer, Christian Cowan showed a collection inspired by the Powerpuff Girls.

Cowan, originally from the UK, said in an interview to ‘Refinery 29’, that when he moved to America, he reached out to the makers of ‘Powerpuff Girls’ because he really wanted to collaborate with them.

He chose to showcase this collection for ‘Women’s Day’ since he felt the messaging of Powerpuff Girls was in line with the day, and what it stands for. 

In his interview to Vogue, Cowan says, “I loved these girls that didn’t need saving; they were saving everyone else.”

“In the past, we’ve seen collaborations where it feels like the face of the cartoon is just put on top of a sweatshirt and they’re done. But the goal was to bring the characters to life with high-fashion.” 

His aesthetic with this collection was clearly to go with big dress silhouettes, keeping things ‘flowy’ and ‘over the top’

Model, Paris Hilton, walked for Christian Cowan, in ‘Powerpuff Girl Mode’. 

Professor Utonium wasn’t forgotten in the collection. His character is represented by this latex, almost futuristic look. 

When asked about his own favorite character in the show, he said that it would have to be ‘HIM’. 

Speaking to Refinery 29, he said this: “He’s just so fabulous and he’s been wearing heels and a skirt for a long time — and I love that — and they never mention it. But it’s totally normal”

Christian Cowan really sent us back to the days when we’d sit in front of the TV, all excited to see the show. His looks are definitely unique and stand apart. Let us know what looks you liked the best 🙂
