Brown parents are not easy specimens. They need to know the who’s and what’s of everything.

Given the current situation in our country, they have every right to be worried. No matter your gender, at the end of the day, you are still at risk of something bad happening to you. If you’re going out, your parents will be worried about your safety because they know there isn’t much they can do. Nevertheless, convincing them that we will be safe and sound is the best way to gain their support and trust.
Here are 7 ways you can convince your brown parents to agree to almost everything.
1. LISTEN TO THEM
This is an easy thing to say, but easier said than done. If your parents are asking you to do something, do not shrug them off. Listen to what they have to say and act on it.
2. AIM TO SHOW
After listening to what they have asked you to do, make SURE they see the progress. It is another thing you do it secretively but your parents might give you what you want when they see you are listening.
3. SPEND TIME WITH THEM
You can’t expect someone to agree to everything you have to say if you rarely ever sit down with them. Make them a cup of chai, talk to them, share a funny meme, and spend as much time as you can.
4. KEEP THEM IN THE LOOP
Keep on telling them about the people you hang out with if you’re worried they won’t allow you to go out. It is easier for brown parents to agree if they know who you are with beforehand.
5. PROMISE TO SEND PICTURES
Share your location, send pictures, and make videos. Brown kids are different from their friends and completely unrecognizable with the family but you got to do what you got to do.
6. ASK BEFOREHAND
This is something almost everyone will be familiar with. Do not ask for permission at the last moment. Give yourself 5 business days.
7. MAKE GENUINE GESTURES
If nothing else works you can always bribe them into agreeing. Give them kisses and tell them you love them, when they’re all smothered up drop the bomb.
