Waqar Younis' Sexist Remarks About The Women's Cricket Team Have Started A Big Debate

By Momina Mindeel | 30 Jun, 2017

Waqar Younis, the former Pakistani right-arm fast bowler and the former coach of Pakistan cricket team, is remembered as one of the fastest bowlers of all times and that’s mostly why he has been in the news in the past.

Waqar Younis decided to share his mansplain to women and shared a rather sexist tweet

He then subtly moved on to his suggestion about how it’s better to have 30 overs for the Women Cricket World Cup instead of 50 because the full 50 is “few too many” for women

Khair, the tweet sparked a debate on the social battlefield that is twitter but for all the right reasons.

Has Waqar actually asked them or it is just his opinion because, for him, women are naturally physically inferior to men?

Amidst all of this, some of the men on Twitter started exhibiting their male privileges as usual

While others suggested that it’s better not to bring in feminism because men know everything about women and their capabilities

Others had simple, rather innocent questions like most of us

I mean, here we thought that the lack of funds and opportunities were already disheartening to see when it comes to the female cricket team but turns out that still doesn’t suffice the male ego in general.

Some people were there just to incite the ‘women’ and trigger reactions out of them

Most people, though, have just one question: what’s your point Waqar Younis?

Waqar Younis might have shared the tweet in good faith but the fact that it is a classic example of how men think it’s their right to decide stuff for women is as vivid as a day. So Mr. Waqar Younis and generally the other men of the world, kindly only let us decide things that concern us. How does that sound? Great? Thought so. No added burden for you. Win win.
