Actress Jamila Jameel Just Took Her Fight With The Kardashians And Their Fake Bodies To The Next Level

By Iman Zia | 22 Mar, 2019

Actress Jameela Jamil has always spoken out against celebrities misusing their power to promote beauty misconceptions and sell false truths about what goes behind maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Adolescent girls are often the target audience when we see a celebrity post an ad about some kind of odd ‘slimming tea’ or a ‘pill’ that encourages weight loss in an indefinite amount of months or weeks. They’re unrealistic expectations that we end up falling for; scheming little traps that have girls who look up to these celebrities begin to unconsciously become obsessed with how they look.

Jameela Jamil attacked reality star Khloe Kardashian for her latest post, where she uploaded a picture of herself posing with a ‘meal replacement’ shake and suggested that this is all she needs to get her ideal body.

The insta post was an ad for ‘@flattummy,’ and Khloe stated in the caption that this shake was what helped her get the tummy she has; “loving how my tummy looks right now…the progress is undeniable.”

Jameela took to the post and left a very honest comment about just how stupid and dangerous Khloe’s posts can be.

She pointed out that the product Khloe was promoting was not “FDA approved” and that this picture is the product of NOT a slimming shake, but a “personal trainer, nutritionist, probable chef, and a surgeon to achieve your aesthetic.” Jameel went on to point out a few side effects of such products, like ” cramping, stomach pains, diarrhoea and dehydration.”

The actress blamed the industry for morphing Khloe into a poster child for weight-loss ads, but urged the reality star to encourage others to go down such a dark route; “it’s incredibly awful that this industry bullied you until you became this fixated on your appearance. That’s the media’s fault. But now please don’t put that back into the world, and hurt other girls, the way you have been hurt.” According to Forbes, Flat Tummy earns an estimated £152,000 ($200,000) for one paid partnership post by a celebrity.

“You’re a smart woman. Be smarter than this.”

Jameel has been fighting this world of sham diets, and it’s not the first time that the actress spoke out against a Kardashian, recently targetting Kim for also shamelessly advertising a slimming shake. While sponcons have been very prevalent on social media, there’s been growing concern over the swelling number of ‘false diet’ sponcons.

#ad You guys all know I looove @flattummyco shakes. I've just restarted them (it's Day 2 today) and I’m already feeling so good. We had a huuuuge Christmas this year and between that, New Years and everything inbetween… I felt like it was impossible to fit in my regular work outs and eat healthy. But this program is giving me a kick in the right direction that I need. These meal replacement shakes are so good and they're helping me get my tummy back to flat. I’m already feeling amazing and I’m so excited for the next few weeks. Because they’re all about getting women back on track… they’ve got a 20% off sale going on right now, so if you want to start 2019 off right… trust me, you’re going to want to check them out. PS. I’m doing the chocolate program🍫

Jameela even created a petition to ‘stop celebrities promoting toxic diet products on social media’ on and is hoping that major social platforms like Facebook and Instagram ban such ads.

Jameel was a sufferer of anorexia as a teen, and stressed how “this is false and irresponsible advertising and it is part of a pervasive and disturbing rhetoric that preys upon eating disordered behaviour and the new trend of ‘quick fix’ that relies upon a naive and vulnerable customer who is not educated as to the full list of health implications these products and diet restrictions can bring.”

Bravo Jameela! We need more woke females like you to look up to in this industry.
