Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming Netflix show ‘Bard Of Blood’ is set to premiere today, but it’s been igniting ire for unspooling anti-Pakistan sentiments simmering in its trailer. The Shah Rukh Khan production has been condemned for heavy propaganda, with many labeling it a just pseudo in further adulation for Indian nationalism.

Asif Ghafoor characterized the show as gratuitously demeaning and belittling an already dire situation between India and Pakistan.

Emraan Hashmi spoke to ‘India Today,’ insisting that there is no propaganda behind the Netflix show and that it’s simply attempting a retelling of the Indo-Pak political wave back in 2014.

The actor responded to Asif Ghafoor’s tweet, saying that his response to the trailer “led to other people spewing hate…but to put things to rest, there is no propaganda here.” Emraan went on to discuss the show’s premise stemming from “a book written by a [then] 20-year-old kid back in 2014…there is no agenda to it. Our show is based on that book and that’s that.” Emraan also admitted that with a “show of this nature, which has some kind of political relevance” – you couldn’t please everyone.
