Firdaus Ashiq Awan making a terrible earthquake joke at a sad time for so many is disgusting
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Firdaus Ashiq Awan was invited as the Chief Guest at a social media workshop organized by Facebook and National Information Technology Board. She gave a speech at the event and made a comment which rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.
In a very insensitive moment last night Firdaus Ashiq Awan crossed a very serious when joking about the earthquake that jolted large parts of Pakistan on Tuesday
The earthquake hit a lot of cities and its epicenter was near Mirpur in Kashmir. Latest reports show that over 19 people lost their lives and another 300 have sustained injuries which shows that the natural disaster caused quite a bit of damage. Mirpur and surrounding areas have been seriously effected but the extent of the damage is still unknown.
Pakistan has witnessed devastating earthquakes in the past, with one of the worse ones hitting the country’s Northern region in 2005. The earthquake lead to thousands of deaths and caused damage to infrastructure worth billions. Hence, the entire country is a little weary of the natural disaster and explains the gravity of the situation in which Dr. Firdaus Ashiq Awan made a joke.
In a video of the speech which has since then gone viral on social media, she can be seen saying that even the earth had turned because it was shocked at the amount of positive changes PTI was bringing in such a short amount of time

A lot of people called her out for the joke and thought she should be reprimanded for having made a joke about such a sensitive issue and that too immediately after it.
