This Powerful Video Will Make You Seriously Think About The Way You Make Fun Of Transgenders In Pakistan

By Sajeer Shaikh | 10 Dec, 2017

Transgenders in Pakistan have been ridiculed for the longest time.

The transgender community is often ostracized. It’s no secret that their rights are not fully recognized. Additionally, they face a ton of oppression.

However, Pakistani activists are trying to bring about change. Kami Sid is a great example of the same.

She’s a transgender model who’s representing the transgender community in mainstream media.

Since it IS Human Rights Day, there isn’t a better way to commemorate it than by talking about a video that empowers Pakistan’s trans community.

Asia Pacific Transgender Network’s concept, #ChangeTheClap, does just that in a remarkable way. You can watch the video here:

The concept highlights all that transgenders bear. However, their trademark clap that’s used against them is a tool of empowerment in this video.

Moreover, the video calls for a change in our mindsets. Once we begin to empathize with transgenders in Pakistan, we begin to pave a path for the establishment of their basic rights.

People who watched the video praised Kami. However, undoubtedly, the entire team deserves a shoutout for this powerful video.

Some considered the message to be strong.

And others thought it’s a much-needed reminder.

Perhaps such videos become necessary when we need to be reminded of acceptance.

And let’s face it – it’s high time we accepted the trans community. Additionally, we absolutely must acknowledge that they’re an integral part of our society. Truly, it’s time to #ChangeTheClap.
