Pakistanis Want Mehwish Hayat's Tamgha-E-Imtiaz To Be Cancelled After Her Latest Item Song

‘Tamgha-E-Imtiaz’ recipient Mehwish Hayat has received tremendous backlash online after the release of her item number for upcoming Lollywood film ‘Baaji.’

Mehwish Hayat’s new item song, ‘Gangster Guriya’ has stirred controversy for allegedly displaying immoral scenes and vulgarity.

The item song is the latest release from the upcoming Lollywood film ‘Baaji’ starring Meera, Amna Ilyas, and Osman Khalid Butt.

The music video has Mehwish Hayat, aka a ‘gangster guriya’ channel her Bollywood diva as she whips out her best dance moves for the item song, that also holds very Katrina-Kaif inspired aesthetics.

The item song was quickly criticized by online users, with many suggesting that this is the wrong representation of culture in Pakistan.

Many suggested that this was a mindless addition to a film, and an easy-win for directors hoping to bring in views; a few also tagged Hamza Ali Abbasi, who recently spoke out against item songs in films.

Most questioned Mehwish receiving the ‘Tamgha-E-Imtiaz’ and its credibility.

What are your thoughts on this? Should the ‘Tamgha-E-Imtiaz’ be revised?
